Year 3B Class Merit Awards Weeks 6 & 7.

Congratulations to the following children from 3B on receiving class merit awards in Weeks 6 and 7. Well done Liam, Jasmine, Sally, Alex, Olivia and Coskun. Keep up the great work!

Year 3 Excursion:The Rocks Walking Tour.

In History this term, Year 3 have been focusing on the British Colonisation of Australia. As part of their research inquiry and culmination to this unit of work,  the students took part in a walking tour of the historic site of The Rocks.

The students heard many aspects of this story, including the impact on the Eora, the indigenous peoples who lived around the foreshores at this time.

They viewed many images that helped bring early Sydney town to life, along with the narrative skills of our guides, Sally and Vickie.

In addition, each student was given a costume of either a convict or a soldier, together with the real identity of a significant person.

It was a great learning day. We are particularly grateful for the dads and mums who were able to come and help us on our excursion.

Year 3 St Patricks Day.

It was a sea of green everywhere you looked, as we celebrated the feast of St Patrick. 3B had their very own St Patrick complete with snake.(Aurelius!)
The day began with a beautiful mass with great singing from all of Year 3. This was followed by the "sea of green " cake stall with all the money raised going to Caritas.

There was some brilliant irish dancing from Tiernan Cargill (Yr 2) and David O'Brien-McSweeney (Yr 3 Gold) along with visiting guest Sascha Kaless. In all, a grand day!
As we returned to our classroom Mrs Russell was there ready to challenge the students in their mathenatical thinking.

Learning through Technology Part 2.

Just recently all Stage 2 students  were given some excellent tuition and training by Steve from Mac 1. Students learned how to use a variety of creative applications on their iPads. These included Tellagami, Book Creator, Garageband and a host of many others. In all a wonderful learning experience for all students.
